Some days I didn't shoot much, I just didn't always feel up for it and the timing may have been bad that day for photo ops. Here I'm just sharing a few quick shots outside of Kyle's room one day. Our time was always devoted to being in Kyle's room with him when he wanted and needed the company. Or when we really needed his company. But an important part of our time spent in Bethesda was also with one another, outside of Kyle's room and outside of the hospital. It gave us a chance to take a break from the daily routine at the hospital that became nearly predictable within our last few weeks there.
Kathryn sitting on the floor in the hallway of the Surgical Ward outside of Kyle's room - we would sit out here whenever Kyle needed a few minutes of privacy or we just were taking a step out of the room, but didn't want to go too far.
Looking down the hallway of the Surgical Ward at NNMC - it was particularly quiet later in the evenings on the weekends. These moments were cherished by all of us, but mostly by Kyle. Peace and quiet just didn't come around frequently enough there.
Kathryn and Elsie waiting for a walk signal crossing Wisconsin Street, where we spent much of our time walking around to restaurants for meals and cold drinks in between daily hospital visits.
